My third post in the Beyond Victoriana blog series is now up on my public blog.

In 1893, Archibald Campion believed he created an invention that would “prevent the deaths of men in the conflicts of nations”: the Campion Mechanical Marvel, later to be known as Boilerplate the Victorian-Age robot. Constructed with the aid of close friend… Continue
i feel like i live on the far side of the moon. all of the Steampunks and assorted associates to me all seem to live on the East coast. granted that in many ways the flavor of the genre goes better with those antiquated brick buildings that have been everything from factories and breweries to speakeasies and restaurants. but isn't the American West a ripe category to mine for flavor? i live in southern california, a few miles away from the site of the last American Indian fight, theres lots of h… Continue

Hey guys,
I have more info up on the site! CLICK ME!
I am finishing out my con season before heading down to New Jersey to work on Wicked Faire and Steampunk World's Fair. But I would love to see people, and have a few cons left where we are spreading the good word about steampunk. ^_^
At New England Fan Experience, myself, Cap, the Professor, the General and Alan have a table, and 4 panels!
At AAC, myself, Cap, the Baron, Lucretia,… Continue

ive been having the workings of a Tale spinning in my mind for some nights. so i set upon myself to begin writing the visions that keep my mind from settling down to sleep, demanding for ink to meet paper into the magic of the written word.
and Blast it! twice now the notebooks of which i have begun writing the materials have been consumed into the ether, or the many hungry black holes of this old brick and plaster dwelling. *sigh*. Continue
Brewing Temperature: 212 degrees F
Optimal Brew Time: 4 to 5 minutes
Body: Full
History: Actually a Blend of Indian and Chinese Teas, it was created by Twinings during the American Revolution. Considered by most to be a starter tea. It pairs well with hardy but sweet offerings.
My recipe today:
Spicy Ginger Bundt Cake from "Having Tea" by Tricia Foley,
I make this for my afternoon tea when I have to actually go into work, cause it really does store amazingly well.

Hiya!
Okay, if you know me at all, you know that my one enduring passion is Tea. I drink lots and lots of it. So, I was looking at the blog sections of some of my friends websites and was wondering what on earth could i type about with any authority and/or creativity. Duh Tea! And more specifically what to eat with the specific type of tea that you yourself like. So that is what I'm going to blog about.
Because even Airship Pirates need a break from rum and hardtack.

Blessed Sister,
It has become the habit of Mr. Tobin to send the simpleton Zeke on any number of errands in the hope that he might not return. Invariably, sometimes almost impossibly, Zeke does find his way back and on this latest occasion he brought news of a private train sitting idle on a disused siding above Sturgis. Remembering that the last remnants of Hellstromme's failed assault… Continue
OK so my persona is african/native american. I've had this idea kicking around for garb (is it called garb in steampunk?) Anywho I have been looking through a lot of re enactor sights looking for ideas of things to Mod. I found this great hat called a vivandiere worn by women during the civil war. Its only $95 - on my list baby
I had a bad night last night with my novel. Nonetheless, it convinces me that I must go on writing. I am going to take a break for most of today and continue this evening. Continue

After losing money and being disappointed with all our initial plans falling through, I would just like to thank everyone who made Halloween much better than it looked like it was gonna be.
Elena: For coming early and holding the table with me, AND for driving us back after I seriously winded and dehydrated myself running back to the Academy because I accidently left my key with Jeff, and of course - for looking sexy as usual in your costume helping us win that costume contest.

Swashbuckling sky pirates are an iconic steampunk archetype (or cliche...), but the genre's most famous pirate did not rule the uncharted skies but the seven seas. Captain Nemo, Jules Verne’s most infamous underwater sea captain, has raised much discussion about whether he would serve as steampunk's #1 pirate and antih… Continue

Well, I got all the way up to 5070 words yesterday. Today, I've many mundane chores to run, but should be able to jump back on the keyboard in a couple of hours. Looks like some other WriMos have been at it too. Happy typing! Continue
I made these entirely out of metal and found parts, leather straps and various buckles. They actually aren't as heavy as you might think, but they are a bit unwieldy to wear especially in a crowd. I managed not to kill anyone at steamcon, but there will be plenty of potential victims at Maker Faire next year!
Pictures of the… Continue
